Our client, a technology-driven and entrepreneurially minded retail bank, is entering a critical phase of growth and innovation and now seeks an experienced and visionary Chief Risk Officer to join its Executive Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
As SMF4, the Chief Risk Officer will be responsible for leading the development of a modern, agile risk function that is integral to the Bank’s strategic direction. The role calls for an influential leader who can embed a forward-looking risk culture while building capability across a talented but inexperienced team. The successful candidate will possess a clear understanding of how risk can act not just as a safeguard but as a strategic enabler within this fast-moving business. Leadership and mentoring will be central to success in this role, as will the ability to bring structure, clarity, and empowerment to a growing function.
The ideal candidate will be an industry-leading expert in risk management with significant experience in credit, liquidity, operational, strategic, prudential and financial crime risks. Deep technical knowledge must be matched with high emotional intelligence, a sharp commercial instinct, and the ability to operate with pace and precision in complex, fast-changing environments. A comprehensive understanding of the UK regulatory landscape, combined with a proven ability to engage effectively with regulators, is essential.
